If you`re reading this, you`re likely living through a time of confusion and chaos. The sudden disappearance of millions of believers—the Rapture—has marked the end of an era and the beginning of the 7-Year Tribulation, a period of suffering unlike any the world has ever known. This time was foretold in Scripture and is meant to prepare the way for Christ`s return, though it will be filled with unimaginable trials.
In this 7-Year Tribulation period, a global authoritarian state will arise, forcing its power and control upon every individual. This system, led by a figure known as the Antichrist, will demand allegiance and worship, suppressing all who resist. True Christians—those who come to faith after the Rapture—will face severe persecution. You may already feel the weight of this oppression, the loss of freedoms, and the looming threat of punishment if you refuse to conform. Stay strong and remember that your faith and loyalty to God will be your only protection in this dark time.
A major aspect of this global system will be the Mark of the Beast, a mark or sign that will become necessary for anyone who wishes to buy, sell, or participate in society. Do not take this mark, regardless of the consequences. Scripture warns us in Revelation 14:10-11 that those who take this mark align themselves with the Antichrist, forfeiting their salvation. Accepting the mark seals allegiance to Satan, and God`s Word is clear: there is no forgiveness for those who choose it. This decision may cost you your life, but remember, your soul is of far greater value.
The Antichrist will not only establish a one-world government but also a one-world religion that will lead people away from the true God. This religion, championed by the False Prophet, will demand worship of the Antichrist and be reinforced with false signs and wonders. Together, the Antichrist, the False Prophet, and Satan form an unholy trinity that mocks the Holy Trinity. Their deceptive “miracles” will be convincing, even leading some believers astray, but remember that they come from a place of darkness. Pray for discernment and resist their lies.
God, however, has not left the world without a testimony. In Revelation 11, we learn of two powerful witnesses who will prophesy and stand against the Antichrist`s deception. These two witnesses, empowered by God, will perform miraculous signs, calling people to repentance. They will have the power to stop rain, turn water to blood, and bring plagues upon the earth (Revelation 11:6), demonstrating God`s authority even in this dark time. Many speculate on their identities—some believe they are Moses and Elijah, or Enoch and Elijah, while others think they may be two unknown believers. Whoever they are, they will proclaim the truth of God fearlessly for 3 ½ years, until they are killed by the Antichrist. The world will celebrate their deaths, but after 3 ½ days, they will rise again, and in full view of their enemies, they will ascend to heaven, a final testimony of God`s power and sovereignty.
The 7 Year Tribulation will be marked by great destruction, with wars, earthquakes, and other catastrophic events escalating to unprecedented levels. Now that the age of grace has ended with the Rapture, the world will experience the full impact of God’s judgment. Mankind’s rebellion and rejection of God will lead to suffering, but know that even in this judgment, God is extending mercy. Through these horrors, God is giving humanity a glimpse of what hell will be like—an existence without His goodness and peace. This is a final act of mercy, a call to repentance, and a chance to turn away from wickedness before it is too late. God, in His loving patience, desires that none should perish. Though the days will be marked by turmoil and despair, His goal is to awaken hearts to the reality of eternity and draw them back to Him.
In addition to the two witnesses, God has chosen 144,000 Jewish believers who will be sealed and commissioned to spread the gospel. They will boldly proclaim the truth in a world darkened by deception, bringing a message of hope and redemption. Seek out these messengers if you can, as they will testify to the way of salvation through Jesus Christ.
The Antichrist will imitate Christ`s ministry, performing counterfeit miracles and claiming to be the savior of humanity. For 3 ½ years, he will deceive many, mirroring the time Jesus ministered on earth. His supernatural feats will be convincing, and he will appear to fulfill people`s hopes for peace and prosperity, but these are only a facade. His goal is destruction and death, and he will ultimately lead many to eternal separation from God.
During the Tribulation, a counterfeit trinity will arise: Satan, the Antichrist, and the False Prophet. Just as God is revealed in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Satan will seek to mimic God’s nature through this unholy trinity. The Devil, embodying ultimate rebellion against God, will empower the Antichrist—a charismatic world leader who will deceive many with false promises of peace and unity. The False Prophet, acting as a deceptive spiritual leader, will perform supernatural signs to validate the Antichrist’s authority, leading people into a false worship system that opposes God.
This unholy trinity’s purpose is to steal worship away from the true God, enslaving humanity under a worldwide system of deception and control. Together, they will lead millions astray, enticing people with promises of peace and prosperity that only lead to destruction. The Antichrist will mimic the ministry of Jesus, working for 3½ years and performing false miracles, luring even some believers into deception.
Though the Tribulation is filled with suffering, it will not last forever. The Bible promises that after seven years of trials, Jesus Christ will return to establish His kingdom on Earth, ruling in peace and righteousness for 1,000 years. Hold onto this promise as you endure hardships, knowing that God`s plan is ultimately one of restoration.
Though the days ahead will be dark, remember that your suffering will not last forever. Jesus has promised that those who endure to the end will be saved (Matthew 24:13). Stand firm, refuse the mark, and continue to grow in faith. Remember that Satan is a deceiver; he masquerades as an angel of light and even deceived a third of the angels in heaven. His cunning lies will continue to ensnare many, but the Lord has given you a way out. Stay grounded in the Word and resist his deceptions.
In these dark and desperate times, hold firmly to your faith. Now, more than ever, it is vital to read and study the Bible diligently, allowing God’s Word to guide you and to help you discern between truth and deception. Seek out other Christians who are also steadfast in their faith; together, you can support and encourage each other to grow in the strength of the Lord. Trust in the teachings of Jesus, and remember that He is the only way to salvation.
When the world sees destruction and sorrow, let your eyes remain on God`s promises. Jesus, the true King, will soon return and set all things right. Trust in Him, stay strong, and never give up.
This world is temporary, and its trials will pass. Jesus Himself warned us, “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell” (Matthew 10:28). Take comfort in this truth—no matter what you face, your soul is eternally secure in God’s hands when you place your faith in Him.
Someone might ask, "But if God is love, how could He allow such things to happen?" That’s a valid question, and the answer lies in understanding the true nature of God's love. Yes, God is love, and it’s precisely because of His love that the Tribulation will occur for the unsaved. Every aspect of the seven-year Tribulation is a monumental rescue mission—a demonstration of God’s relentless mercy, aimed at reaching those with hardened hearts before it’s too late, so they do not face an eternity separated from Him.
To grasp this fully, you need to see these events from God’s perspective. Though it will be a time of great trouble—referred to in the Bible as "the time of Jacob’s trouble"—it is ultimately an act of divine mercy. Just as God dealt with Pharaoh in an effort to soften his heart through miraculous signs, He will reach out to the entire world in a similar way. The parallels are striking, as each miracle and event forms part of a carefully orchestrated plan to awaken humanity to His truth.
For years, Christians have often used this verse as a call to send missionaries into the world. While spreading the gospel is undeniably important, this particular verse is actually a mid-tribulation passage. Some argue, "Jesus can’t return until the gospel has been preached to the entire world." However, this interpretation misplaces the context. How do we know? Let’s look at the following verse: "When ye, therefore, shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place (whoso readeth, let him understand)" (Matthew 24:15). This event clearly occurs midway through the Tribulation.
Jesus was explaining that the gospel of the kingdom will still be preached in all the world after the Rapture of the Church. In fact, there is a point midway through the Tribulation when angels will go out and proclaim the everlasting gospel to every corner of the earth, reaching those who have never heard it (Revelation 14:6-12). While the Church certainly has a vital role to play in sharing the gospel now, the idea that Jesus cannot return until every nation hears the message is simply not accurate. That task will ultimately be fulfilled during the Tribulation.
The seals, the judgments, and the vials—when you consider how radical these events are, it’s clear they represent hell on earth. Yet, even in this, God’s desperate mission is to rescue as many people as possible from eternal separation from Him. As horrific as those seven years will be, they are still far better than an eternity in hell. What may seem terrifying now is ultimately an act of mercy, designed to give humanity every chance to turn back to God.
We can hardly begin to comprehend what eternal separation from God truly means—the absence of His love, goodness, and justice. Even in a world darkened by sin and suffering, we still experience glimmers of His light and grace. Imagine a reality where even that is gone. God’s actions, even His wrath, are not acts of cruelty but of protection and love, extended toward you and me. His desire is not to destroy but to save, offering hope even in the midst of judgment.
This comprehensive study of the Book of Revelation is masterfully presented by the esteemed Dr. Alan B. Stringfellow, whose profound insights and dedication to biblical teaching have blessed countless readers through his acclaimed book, Through the Bible in One Year.
Our study of this, the last book of the Bible, shall be in two parts — two lessons. It is impossible to cover all of the teachings of the Revelation, therefore, we shall try to grasp the high points which
This authenticates every word found in the book of Revelation. John, the Apostle, wrote the Revelation. He had already written four other New Testament books: The gospel of John, 1 John, 2 John, 3 John. In the gospel of John, he reached farther back into eternity than any other Bible writer (John 1:1–3). In Revelation he reaches farther into eternity future than any other writer (Revelation 21, 22). Man writes history — God writes prophecy. Revelation is prophecy from God. The importance of the book is in verse 3, and there we find three beatitudes of the book:
“The Revelation of Jesus Christ” (Revelation 1:1).
(The word apocalypse is compounded from a verb and a preposition: apo— means “away from,” kalupto means “to hide, to cover.” Apokalupsis, therefore, means “to unveil, to reveal.” The Revelation then reveals, unveils the coming triumph of Jesus Christ.) Before we give the structure of the book, it may help you to understand the Revelation by knowing some of the interpretations of the book. In verse 3 we read, “now the time is at hand.” However, if we group every theory and idea ever written about this book we can group them under four general headings.
They are briefly:
Now you can decide which theory you might agree with — only after you have finished these two lessons, please.
In obedience to that command, John wrote the things which he had seen. He saw the glorified Lord, the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending. He had seen the seven golden candlesticks (lampstands) and in the midst of the seven candlesticks he saw One like unto the Son of God. John described the vision of the Living Lord: His garments, eyes, head, hair, feet, voice. John saw in the right hand of the Lord “seven stars” (verse 16). What were these “candlesticks” and “stars” (verse 16)? John tells us in verse 20, the seven stars are the “angels” — messengers actually pastors of the “seven churches.” “The seven candlesticks are the seven churches.”
